About ElecGuys
James I Ree
Home Energy & Solar Advisor

Hi, I’m James Ree, the founder of ElecGuys.
With 8 years of hands-on experience in the electrical, HVAC, and renewable energy industry, I used to work at two major wholesale suppliers in Los Angeles Downtown:
-
Buffalo Electric Wholesale (1220 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006)
-
Albatross (1416 W. Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90015)
My role was to consult with electrical contractors, research products, source equipment and materials, and supply them for projects of all sizes — from small residential jobs to larger commercial installations.
I specialized in solar-related equipment (panels, batteries, inverters, ESS systems), energy-efficient HVAC products, heat pumps, and EV-related solutions. I was also responsible for building and managing the company’s e-commerce website.
Today, I no longer do on-site construction or installations. Instead, I’ve transitioned to full-time blogging to share the real-world knowledge I gained over those years with everyday homeowners.
Why ElecGuys?
I created this blog to help people who are new to solar and home energy.
My goal is simple: to provide clear, honest, and truly useful information about:
-
energy-saving electrical products and materials
-
energy-efficient HVAC systems and heat pumps
-
solar panels, batteries, inverters, and ESS
-
ideal system sizes, realistic pricing, installation processes, and expert tips
-
EV chargers and related know-how
I also plan to introduce good, reliable products and companies that can genuinely help you save money and make smarter decisions.
Whether you’re just curious about going solar, trying to lower your electricity bill, or planning your next home energy upgrade — I’m here to make the process less confusing and more practical.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find the information here helpful, and I’d love to hear from you.

My Solar Journey
The people, the jobsites, and the lessons that started it all

These photos are from my years at Buffalo Electric Wholesale in Los Angeles, where I worked with electrical contractors daily. Watching dozens of solar projects come together — from the first load calculation to final inspection — gave me a ground-level view of what actually works and what doesn't. That experience is the foundation of everything I write here.
